SartQ

ARTIST COLLECTIVE

The SartQ Artist Collective is proud to present Light and Dark, an exhibition of this local group’s work that explores the deeper meaning of duality. The interpretation from each artist creates a dialogue that explores the relationship between these two extremes.

Light conveys a sense of life, happiness, intelligence and immortality. On the other hand, darkness can literally mean a lack of light, but it can also symbolize sadness, ignorance, the unknown, mystery and even death. The duality of light and dark exists because of one’s relationship to the other and our experiences of the two. Light and dark cannot exist without the other.

These representations and symbols are long standing and manifest in our daily lives, even showing up in psychology and our understanding of the world. From a psychological standpoint, we all exhibit light and dark patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in our daily life. This concept that we all possess light and dark sides poses deep questions about our sense of belonging in the world.

What do you associate with – the light, the dark or somewhere in the middle?

This collection of art offers a comprehensive view of life, ranging from its brightest vibrance to its darkest moments. Our world can be both beautiful and terrifying, at times a source of inspiration and other times a source of fear. Light and Dark is an exhibition that will challenge viewers to think about the subconscious mind in new and unexpected ways.
