NATASHA DIKAREVA

Natasha Dikareva’s work is best described as surreal and otherworldly. Through her sculptures, she invites viewers into a dream-scape where reality and imagination coexist. Her influences range from ancient Greek mythology to Eastern philosophies of spiritual transformation. She is interested in depicting the human experience using charged symbolism through which anyone can immerse themselves into a myriad of metaphorical possibilities.

During the pandemic, as many of us gained new skills, Dikareva learned to hold her breath for two minutes. Stilling her lungs, she shifted fully into the present moment. Here, a new art form began to emerge: stilling the mind. The artist found inspiration and spontaneous creativity in the present moment. Dikareva explains, “through the back door of the subconscious, I find escape routes from the mundane. I hope that my sculptures resonate with audiences on a profound level, encouraging them to contemplate the complexities of life and the ever-changing world we inhabit.”
