Valentina Bilbao was born in Caracas, Venezuela. From an early age, she showed a strong connection with the arts through her talent for painting, her love for poetry, and primarily her passion for music, which today is the primary source of inspiration for her abstract paintings. By combining music and painting, she creates magnificent canvases that communicate her feelings and beliefs, as an artistic call for a better world. “I decode the music to transform then and code it as color. For me, the music is not only an inspiration, but it is also the element from which all is born, it is the artwork on itself, expressed differently. My artwork is completed when I am able to bring the music to a visual, tangible dimension.”
Valentina studied art at the Instituto de Artes Plasticas Arturo Michelena as well as child psychology, in Valencia, Venezuela. In the 1990s, while developing her artistic career, she took drawing and painting classes at the Ateneo de Valencia and founded “Pinceladas,” a drawing and painting workshop for youngsters. After moving to the United States in 2009, she continued giving painting demonstrations and workshops in public and private institutions as well as in her studio, in Davie, Florida.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States, Italy, and Venezuela, and belongs to important private collections in the U.S. and abroad. She has received several awards including the Leonardo Da Vinci 2016, Florence, Italy; and the Salon 2015 Juried Show First Place in Painting at Curator Voice Art Projects, Miami, Florida.
