Born in Pinar del Río, Cuba (1965)

Segundo Planes studied at the Provincial School of Art (EPA), Pinar del Río, Cuba; the National School of Art (ENA), Cubanacán, Cuba; the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), Havana, Cuba; and the René Portocarrero Silk Screen Print Shop, Havana, Cuba. Planes has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions including In Border Lines. Latin-American Art in the MEIAC Collection (traveling exhibition), Prague, Milan, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Moscow, and Brussels (2006); XV Biennial of Cuenca, Museum of Modern Art, Cuenca, Ecuador (1998); and Cuba XX Century. Syncretism and Contemporaneity (traveling exhibition), Canary Island, Barcelona, and Madrid. He has received several awards including the First Prize in Painting, Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales (FCBC), Havana, Cuba.

He lives and works in Mexico.
