Born in Havana, Cuba (1953)

Rogelio López Marín (Gory) studied at the National School of Art (ENA), Cubanacán, and earned a BA in Art History from the University of Havana, Cuba. He lived in Mexico from 1991 to 1992.

Gory participated in the historical exhibition Volume One (1981). He is considered one of the main practitioners of hyper-photorealist painting in Cuba and one of the most accomplished photographers of his generation. Some of his solo exhibitions include Photographs of Gory, Lehigh University, Dobois Gallery, Bethlehem, PA (1993); Inerland, Chelsea Gallery, Miami, FL (2006); and Because of the City, Panamerican Art Projects, Miami, FL (2008). He has received several awards including the Photography Prize Tina Modotti, I Biennial Wilfredo Lam, Havana, Cuba, and a grant from the Peter S. Reed Foundation, New York.
