Born in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba
Rafael López Ramos studied at the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), and Rene Portocarrero Silkscreen Print Shop, Havana, Cuba. He migrated to Vancouver, Canada, prior to settling in Miami, FL.
His works have been presented in numerous group exhibitions including The Sculptured Object, Center of Development of Visual Arts, Havana, Cuba (1990); Born in Cuba, Athanaeums of Valencia (traveling exhibition), Caracas, Venezuela (1991); Killing Time, Exit Art, New York (2007); and Contemporary Cuban Art in New York (CANY), Dactyl Foundation, NY, (2009). His latest solo shows include Chromatic Aporias, Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, FL (2015); and Wonderland, The Art Link, Miami, FL (2013). He has received several awards including the Installation Prize at the II Festival of Artistic Creation, ISA, Havana, Cuba.
He resides in Miami, FL.
