Born in Santa Clara, Cuba (1958)
Pepe Herrera attended the National School of Art (ENA), Cubanacán, and the Rene Portocarrero Silkscreen Print Shop, Havana, Cuba. He migrated to Barcelona, Spain, in 1987.
His work has been featured in several solo exhibitions including Painting and Serigraphy, Centre Cultural Collblanc, Barcelona, Spain (1988); Pepe Herrera: Paintings, Cristal Arte Gallery, Cádiz, Spain (1994); Desktops, Godella Center of Art, Casa dels Pintors, Valencia, Spain (2004); and Thistle or Nettle Cultivation, Cremata Gallery, Miami, FL, USA (2009). He has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has received several awards, including the Honorable Mention (second prize) at the City of Gijon National Prize of Graphic Art and the Engraving Prize, Gijon, Spain.
He resides in Madrid, Spain.
