Born in Havana, Cuba (1955)
A self-taught sculptor, professional ironworker and welder, Mario Felipe Almaguer left the Island in 1997.
His work has been featured in several solo exhibitions including Iron Forms, Wifredo Lam Art Center, Havana, Cuba (1991); Woodcarvings, Miami Dade College, FL (2003); and Monumental Sculpture, Miami Dade College, FL (2004). He has also participated in many group exhibitions including Cuba, The Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin Art, Miami, Florida (1999) and Time of the Cuban Culture, Wifredo Lam Gallery, Havana, Cuba (1991). He was recognized for his contribution to the arts in South Florida by Miami Dade County, Miami, Florida. He has worked on several commissions including a monumental sculpture produced for Miami International Sculpture Park, Miami Dade College, Miami, FL (2007).
