Born in Havana, Cuba (1962)

Luis Mallo studied graphic design in New York, but he became interested in photography and its creative potential after leaving school. Mallo’s photographic work has been shown solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe, including the V Biennial, El Museo del Barrio, New York, NY (2007); Gallery Artists: Iturria, Mallo, Torres-Llorca, Praxis International Art, Miami, FL (2008). Unbroken Ties: Dialogues in Cuban Art, The Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, FL (2008); and US After Today, Lyon Biennial de la Photo, France (2010). He has received several awards including the Cintas Foundation Award and The Art Matters Photography Award.

He resides in Brooklyn, NY.
