Julio Antonio studied at San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts and the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), Havana, Cuba.
His paintings and ceramics have been presented in several solo and group exhibitions including Iconos y leyendas, Durban Segnini Gallery, Coral Gables, FL (2000); Images and Commentaries, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Panama (2000); Realist Men, Selby Gallery, Ringling Museum, Sarasota, FL (2002); Latin American Artists (2002); and 20 Years Anniversary Exhibition Celebration, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami, FL (2002). He has received several awards including the Second Grand Prize, VI Biennial of Ibero-American Art, Mexico DF, Mexico (1988); SAF/NEA Regional Fellowship in Painting and Works on Paper (1992); and the Purchase Award, VI All-Florida Biennial, Polk Museum of Art, Lakeland, FL (1993).
He resides in Miami, FL.
