Born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba (1960)

Juan-Si González studied at the Provincial School of Art (EPA), Pinar del Río, Cuba; the National School of Art (ENA), Cubanacán, Cuba; and the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), Havana, Cuba. He lived in Bogotá, Colombia, and San José, Costa Rica, prior to moving to the United States, in 1993.

The work of this interdisciplinary artist has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions including Art = Life: Actions by Artists of the Americas (1960-2000), Museo del Barrio, New York, NY (2008); Unbroken Ties: Dialogues in Cuban Art, Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, FL (2008); and Breaking Barriers: Selection from the Cuban Art Collection, Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, FL (1987). He has participated in several residencies and he received the Ohio Arts Council “Interdisciplinary Individual Excellence Award,” in 2015.

He has lived in Ohio since 2003.
