Born in Havana, Cuba (1958)
Gustavo Acosta studied at San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts and the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), Havana, Cuba. He left the island in 1991.
He has participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions. His most recent solo shows include Space of Silence, Caixa Cultural, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil (2013-2014); Timeline, Latin American Masters, Santa Monica, CA (2015); Paper Trail, Pan American Art Projects, Miami, FL (2016); and Inventory of Omissions, 532 Thomas Jaeckel Gallery, New York, NY (2017). He has received many awards including the National Drawing Award, I Biennial Wifredo Lam, Havana, Cuba; Award in Painting, III Biennial of Cuenca, Ecuador; Award in Painting, LVII National Salon of Art, Valdepeñas, Spain; and Gold Medal in Painting, I Biennial of the Caribbean, Dominican Republic.
He lives and works in Miami, FL.
